Autumn Kaleidoscope creates theatrical performances that aim to be high in quality, well researched, and feature elements of both the familiar and the absurd. Founded by Sean P. Mette to tell the story of a girl wanting to dance in a Burlesque show for furries (“Furlesque”), Autumn Kaleidoscope has been creating art in Cincinnati for seven years. Autumn Kaleidoscope’s newest productions often premiere at the Cincinnati Fringe Festival.

The Kinda Weird After Hours Puppet Slam is coming to the Cincinnati Fringe Festival!

Inspired by other puppet slams across the country, Autumn Kaleidoscope will be hosting its first puppet slam during the 2023 Cincinnati Fringe Festival. The slam will include new and returning Fringe Artists for a cabaret celebrating the new and weird in puppetry.

Furlesque (2016)

Nancy Hawkins desperately wants to be part of the show, but her uncle won’t let her. Why is he squashing her dreams? Why won’t he let her dance? Is that a real bear roaming around the stage? Furlesque answers these questions, and creates quite a few more, in this coming of age story set inside a burlesque club for furries!

 

My Darling Dilophosaurus (2017)

Amateur paleontologist, Artemis “Artie” Lattimer, is obsessed with dinosaurs. Her fiancée wishes she would pay more attention to something that hasn’t been extinct for 115 million years. When Artie becomes the parent of a baby dilophosaurus, she must comes up with a plan to both save her relationship and prove that she can become a responsible parent.

 

Billy: The Haunting of William Howard Taft (2018)

President Taft is about to have a rough night! Inspired by historical events, Billy: the Haunting of William Howard Taft follows the President-elect on one of the wildest nights of his life. As Taft falls victim to deception, manipulation and trickery he quickly learns a valuable lesson: never trust a possum.

 

Martha (2019)

Passenger pigeons were one of the most abundant species on the planet. Then within a single generation, their population fell from billions to one. Join Martha, one of the Cincinnati Zoo’s most famous residents, in her final years as she finds love, loss and acceptance as the last passenger pigeon.

 

The Bassoonist (2020)

Johann Geyersbach has one dream, to become the most famed bassoonist in all of Europe. However, his teacher doesn’t believe in him. His teacher: Johann Sebastian Bach. Based on one of the most famous fights of Baroque music.

 

Unintentional Significance (2021-2022)

An orangutan playing chess, resurrected roadkill, cicadas, puppets on fire, puppets under water, a blue light bulb and so much more. Unintentional Significance: A Puppet Show About Everything and Nothing invites the viewer to find meaning in the meaningless and truth among the absurd.  What will you discover?

 

Banned from Heaven, Barred from Hell (2022)

When four immortals are gathered aboard the famed ghost ship, the Flying Dutchman, they are presented by Death incarnate with the opportunity of their lifetimes. Of course, any offer from Death comes with its own unique form of terms and conditions.

 

Trolls! Trolls! Trolls! (2023)

The last thing that you would expect to find in your suitcase is a troll. Using puppets and folk tales from around the world, Silas G. Thistlewig shows a downhearted young troll that there is more to life than living under bridges…or in suitcases. Autumn Kaleidoscope was thrilled to bring Sean P. Mette’s newest puppet play, Trolls! Trolls! Trolls! to the Cincinnati Fringe Festival as part of the All Ages Fringe.
